Danny Freund and the Tennessee Two Piece waltz into their sepia-toned brand of toe-tapping, two-step boxcar hobo music – a kind of ragtime-y burgoo of heritage folk-and-blues that serves as a throwback to a bygone slice of Americana, which the band and its bus seem to have no trouble summoning. They’ll play for as long as folks will listen, setting up at indoor venues or performing al fresco on the lakeshore. Even after the light fades and the crowd clears out and the bar tables receive their evening ablutions, the band will stop only for a brief intermission, pausing to select another kazoo or harmonica from the cigar-box quiver, re-tune the vintage, hollow-body Guild guitars or swap them out for banjos, adjust the tension on the washtub bass and tinker with the pared-down drum kit.
