The Quintessentials were founded in Honolulu, Hawai'i, in 1998 by Les Hernandez. The band recorded three full-length albums for Hawaiian Express Records before relocating to Portland, Oregon, in 2006, where they released their fourth album. In 2011, The Quintessentials returned to Hawaii in late 2011 to release their 5th (DOUBLE!) album on April 30, 2012.
